INDICATOR OF IRRADIATION FOR BLOOD PRODUCTS

New indicators of irradiation for blood products that indicate yes / no and if the blood bag has received the minimum dose or if it has exceeded the maximum one after the recommendations of the international guidelines.
After irradiation the central sensible dot darkens than the reference colour 15/25 Gy and lightens than 50 Gy.
The Rad Tag® is applied on the blood product before irradiation. To begin with the central part is white and changes colour to blue after being exposed to the irradiation: the intensity of the blue colour is directly depending on the quantity of the received irradiations.
The change of colour is definitive and does not require further steps of photographic development.
